Hello Chris, how are you?
I’m well mate. (pause. Looks around*) This is a fine old gin palace!
I do pick them. I’m alright for drinks, get yourself an orange juice. Now how about answering a few questions for Wise Man Say?
I’ll talk your ears off.
I like a challenge, let’s do it. yourpeoplemarket.com, put it in a nutshell for us.
yourpeoplemarket.com is a free to use recruitment marketplace that brings employers and recruiters together. Employers set the maximum they want to pay and get to post their vacancies for free. Recruiters then bid for the business. You can see it all on the video. Haven’t you watched the video’s?
Er…
Lazy journalism. Nevermind. It’s pretty straightforward. Our message to employers is fixed fee or less!
I see. So you’re obviously in the same business at other recruitment markets that have sprung in the UK, like TalentPuzzle and Gatzu, who we had on last we…
(Interrupts)…..actually the market isn’t there yet. I see us, TP and Gatszu as making the market, rather than being competitors fighting for the same bits of business. They’re good companies and I think at present there’s room for all of us – 2 years from now who knows. Anyway, I know all those guys, they’re good guys!
We do a few things a bit differently. One being our ranking system “YouRate” means “naked recruitment” which is what employers love. This said, I’m aware some recruiters think that we are just here to lower margins, but truth is we’re here to provide a use for quality CV’s that are otherwise dumped.
I’m not sure I follow…
Yeah. From a recruiters perspective, I see yourpeoplemarket.com as a clearing house for CV’s they can’t use. Think of it like this. You’re a recruiter, you’ve sent a fantastic shortlist of 3 candidates to your client, who ends up hiring one of them. Would’ve taken all 3, but there’s only 1 job, so he couldn’t. You’re left with 2 great candidates who are burning a hole on your desk and would just be dumped. You’ve done the work, they’ve done the work – why can’t you send them to another job? With yourpeoplemarket.com you log on, see what jobs are going and send your qualified CV’s to them. So what if it’s lower margin business? It’s money or a chance at money you wouldn’t have otherwise made.
..and the candidates would welcome another chance with a similar employer after the disappointment of falling at the last hurdle…
Exactly
..and the employer…
….and the employer would get 2 or however many great agency qualified candidates at the best price the market can offer. What’s not to like?
You got me Chris
But the real killer is what we have in the pipeline – it relates to paginglist.com another business I am involved in – I can’t tell you too much about it, but I can guarantee you it’s a game changer!
Really?
If I told you, you’ll be up all night thinking about it!
Chris tells me. He’s right. It’s pretty damn good. (Cue 45 minute diversion)
Chris, great getting completely off tangent, but I’ve got an interview to finish. Can we get back to the script?
Yeah you’re right. Sure, yourpeoplemarket.com.
How do you make your money?
Charge 15% of the fee set by the client. And of course, we are going to explore ways we can help recruiters monetise their candidate databases, which, if it works, will be massive revenue generator for them and us
How long until world conquest?
You know what? I don’t know. The last company I set up, we had a plan to build and exit in 5 years. We did it in 7. With YPMarket, there’s no plan like that. Without sounding too “grey haired” the best bit of being in business is the journey not the goal. In 12 months time there’s a possibility we’ll look significantly different to today – this said the goals will always be to deliver value to employers and revenue to agencies. We’ll have to meet up again for episode 2!!
Will do Chris. It’s been a pleasure speaking with you – thanks for your time.
Thank you Wise Man Say
